What is a contraction?
A contraction is a word or phrase that has been shortened by dropping one or more letters commonly used in speech (or written dialogue).
Now, what's the difference between formal and informal?
Formal: Done in accordance with structures, etiquette, and professionalism.
Ex: You all VS Y'all.
Informal: Denoting a style of structural techniques and rules.
Ex: Kind of VS Kinda
Now, let's get to see some of the common examples.

Mom - Ma'am
Company - comp Nee'
You all - Y'all
Jesus - Jezzz'
Kind of - Kinda'
What's up - S'up
Right now - Rat Na'
Going to - Gonna'
In - In'
You - Ya

Got to - Gotta'

Can't - Cain't
Have - A
Would have been - Wood a ben'
These are quite a few formal and informal common English contractions that you may hear daily.
