NSW, Vic premiers seeking tighter lockdown measures

New South Wales and Victoria could go into lockdown within days as both premiers consider tough measures to contain the coronavirus.

Gladys Berejiklian and Daniel Andrews flagged they could move ahead of the federal government if necessary.

The National Cabinet is preparing to meet again today with discussion likely to centre on allowing states to enforce their own lockdowns in coronavirus hotspots.
