Edward Addison Favor was an American vaudeville comedian, singer, musical theater performer and pioneer recording artist, who was Born in NYC on August 29, 1856, billed as Edward M. Favor or Ed. M. Favor, he was one of the most popular stars of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He began performing around 1876 and around that same time married Edith Sinclair who was also a comedy performer. They toured together as FAVOR & SINCLAIR performing on Broadway and touring in 1906 around the world, including performances South Africa and Australia. He made his first recordings around 1893, and by the late 1890’s was recording for most major labels, though by 1908 his recording career was in decline, he continued to record for Victor Records until 1911 and Edison until 1914. He continued to appear in theatrical shows through the 1920s and into the early 1930s. In 1933 and 1934, he appeared in some Broadway productions. He died January 10, 1936 at the age of 79 in Brooklyn in 1936, of peritonitis.
