This charming cottage in Grand Marais celebrates the historical significance of the community while showcasing its many modern amenities. The cottage-style home includes two spacious bedrooms with full-sized beds. The delightful bathroom features a classic clawfoot tub and stunning wood floors. A bonus "bunk room" offers extra space with a cozy North Woods atmosphere.
Built in 1930, the Voyageur House (not to be confused with Vintage Voyageur located nearby) has been impeccably maintained and cared for. The home retains its classic cottage feel but includes several modern amenities added over the years. For example, enjoy the gas fireplace, flat screen TV and Wi-Fi, while also embracing some of the original elements of this bungalow-style cottage. The covered front porch and fixtures in the living room will give you a glimpse into the architectural style in Grand Marais during the early 1930s. In addition, the house backs up to a babbling brook to add even more to this feeling of being in a little cottage in the woods.
Voyageur House is conveniently located just one block up from the Grand Marais Municipal Campground. This centralized setting offers access to the Gitchi Gami State Trail that runs from just west of Grand Marais and brings you right into the beautiful downtown area. Bring your bike or enjoy a short stroll on the paved trail to get to the many locally owned and operated shops and restaurants in town. Enjoy live music in several downtown venues on most nights in the summer.
Outdoor recreational opportunities are seemingly endless on the North Shore. From the front door you’re just a short drive in any direction to one of the area’s many state parks, hiking trails or legendary fishing holes.
Need more space? Voyageur House is located across the street from both our Blue Lake Bungalow and Superior Overlook homes. Robins Nest is also nearby. Renting all four homes together provides room for up to 22 guests. The perfect option for a family reunion.
