A little understanding is needed when screening these applicants. Financial education and credit score training is never taught in High Schools and not required in college. Even worse is our entire economic system is designed to drive people toward bad financial decisions and terrible spending habits. On top of that, poor areas are riff with scams and hustles that put people in these neighborhoods in even worse situations.
So here I’m going to walk through reasons I will accept people with a below average credit score. There are many simple reasons impacting credit that if the applicant simply knew about, they could fix their credit in a matter of a month. Things like not increasing credit limits, not tracking accounts money is withdrawn from, not taking out credit cards sooner, and not utilizing multiple means of credit can all hurt an applicant despite it seeming like all bad ideas to do. So don’t be too quick to judge on the credit score.
