PIZZA TIME! Educational Video for Students With Autism and Intellectual Disabilities (w|Boardmaker)

PIZZA TIME! Educational Video for Students With Autism and Intellectual Disabilities (w|Boardmaker) Learn with Pat in his KITCHEN as he discovers he feels HUNGRY and decides to cook some PIZZA, his favorite FOOD!

For Teachers:
Here are 3 FREE Boardmaker worksheets that relate to the vocabulary presented in the video:

4-Step Sequencing Events of the Video

This goal of this video was to incorporate Boardmaker pictures into a familiar TV show (Blue's Clues, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood) format that I know my students enjoy. Teaching special education remotely is no easy task. As educators we have the opportunity to come together during this bizarre time and share our resources and ideas with each other. If we are willing to experiment and go outside of our comfort zones, we have a real chance at reaching our students in a meaningful way as we learn to educate them remotely.

Please check out Special Books by Special Kids for an amazing resource and glimpse into the beautiful world of the disability/neurodiversity community.

Here is a list of everything I used to make this video for any of you teachers looking to make your own version of this or something like it for your students. You definitely don't need everything on this list to make a video, I ended up using what I already had and already knew how to use. I strongly encourage you to just TRY and not get caught up trying to make it perfect, for many students just seeing a beloved teacher on the screen can make a massive difference in their day, no matter what the quality looks or sounds like.

FOR VIDEO:

CAMERA: Canon Rebel T2i

LENS: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8

SOFTWARE: FINAL CUT PRO X

SOFTWARE ADD-ONS: Pixel Film Studio's ProAnimation 1 and 2. This is where the animations I used on the Boardmaker pictures came from, you literally drag and drop the animation on top of the Boardmaker picture in the FINAL CUT PRO X timeline. It can be a pain to get it all working properly in some cases but the end result was worth the trouble for me.

ProAnimation 1:
ProAnimation 2:

I also got the FCPX Cartoon Mega Pack and used it for some of the transitions and a couple overlay animations.
