Video show the truck being driven towards thousands of people, who were marching toward downtown Minneapolis to take part in ongoing protests over the death of George Floyd.

The rig stopped briefly as people swarmed around it before it was driven off again and then eventually came to a halt.

The driver - named later as Bogdan Vechirko - was pulled out of the cab and it appears he was attacked by the protesters.

He was seen shirtless and bloodied before being handed over the cops.

Police said said he was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is under arrest.

Cops also confirmed that no protesters were hurt.

Drew Valle, a special education teacher, told the StarTribune: "He wasn’t stopping.

"He was beeping loudly and driving into a crowd of people.

"That’s the same kind of malice that brought us here. It’s a callous disregard for someone’s humanity."
